Alaska Anchorage beats top-ranked Bulldogs, 3-2

Bulldogs' sophomore J.T. Brown had a great weekend scoring five of the six UMD goals in this weekend's WCHA series. But last-place Anchorage held onto a 3-2 victory Saturday night to break an eight-game losing streak. With eight games left in the regular season, the Bulldogs (18-6-4 and 12-5-3 in WCHA) are now three points behind first-place Minnesota; two points ahead of third-place Colorado College and three points ahead of fourth-place Denver. UMD will host fifth-place North Dakota this Friday and Saturday.

Bulldogs sweep Western Michigan 5-2

That gives top-ranked Duluth a 16-game unbeaten streak. Next on the schedule: Nebraska in Omaha.

UMD men's hockey blasted Bemidji State, 6-2, in WCHA action Friday night. Senior forward Jack Connolly led the Bulldogs with one goal and two assists.

Sophomore J.T. Brown netted four goals to lead the University of Minnesota Duluth (18-5-4 overall, 12-4-3 WCHA) to a 4-1 victory over Alaska Anchorage. The only goal for the last-place Seawolves (6-17-2, 3-17-1) came late in the second period. The two teams will meet again Saturday night for the WCHA series-ender.

Bulldogs split series with North Dakota

Minnesota Duluth (19-7-4 and 13-6-3 in WCHA) snapped a two-game losing streak Saturday night in Duluth with a 5-4 victory to split the weekend series against UND (16-11-2 and 12-10). Senior forward Jack Connolly netted two goals and had three assists for the third-ranked Bulldogs. UMD men's hockey travels to Mankato next weekend.

UMD Bulldogs sport Mohawks for playoff push

The UMD Bulldogs are up to another hair-raising stunt heading into WCHA playoffs. The Duluth News-Tribune reports they all got Mohawks for team unity. Last year, the ‘Dogs all dyed their hair blond -- and won the NCAA title.
