Burdi, Walker, Reed headline Twins prospects named to Arizona Fall League

The Minnesota Twins announced which of their prospects will participate in the Arizona Fall League this year.

The list includes both Nick Burdi and Jake Reed, two of the hardest throwing relievers in the Twins organization, who will along with Adam Brett Walker, Stuart Turner, Mitch Garver and Trevor Hildenberger be assigned to the Scottsdale Scorpions.

Burdi, who was a second round pick by the Twins in 2014, had an up-and-down season between Chattanooga and Ft. Myers. But the righty regained his magic after he was recalled to the Lookouts later in the season.

Burdi was 3-4 on the season for the Lookouts, with a 4.87 ERA in 27 games. He threw 40 2/3 innings while striking out 48 and walking 19.

Reed is Minnesota's other right-handed reliever. He was 4-4 with a 5.64 ERA in 33 games while throwing 44 2/3 innings for the Lookouts, before he was sent down to Ft. Myers as well to work a few things out.

Off the Baggy notes that like Burdi earlier this season, Reed quickly regained his form in the Florida State League. In 11 1/3 innings with the Miracle, Reed has a 7-to-1 K/BB ratio and hasn't allowed an earned run yet.

The group also includes one of the best power hitters in the Twins minor leagues currently – Walker, who slugged 29 home runs for Double-A Chattanooga and broke the Lookouts' single-season record.

He has hit 79 home runs and driven in 300 RBIs over the last three seasons. Walker is also a top five finalist for the USA Today's Minor Leaguer of the Year award.
