Byron Buxton will return from his wrist injury a little sooner than expected. He will play three innings in an extended spring training game tomorrow.
Originally Buxton was scheduled to return on Monday.
Buxton has been out since spraining his wrist during a spring training game on March 16. The Twins have been playing it cautiously with their star prospect.
Buxton is currently the highest ranked Twins prospect and has been ranked the No. 1 prospect in baseball by MLBPipeline.com.
Eventually, Buxton will return to the Twins Double-A affiliate New Britain, but no timetable has been set for that yet, the Pioneer Press reported.
The Rock Cats lineup has been decimated by injuries and off the field troubles. Buxton has missed time with the wrist injury, Miguel Sano is out following Tommy John surgery and Eddie Rosario is serving a 50-game suspension for a drug of abuse.
