More bad news for the Twins as outfielder Byron Buxton and starting pitcher Michael Pineda were both placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday.
Fort Buxton, who was injured when he slammed his left shoulder into the wall in a game against the Marlins this week, 10 days may not be enough time for him to recover.
According to Twins beat writer Do-Hyoung Park, manager Rocco Baldelli believes it could be a "couple of weeks" before Buxton is able to resume baseball activities.
Buxton has now been on the injured list three times since mid-June, playing in just 18 games since June 14 while missing 23 games since then.
For the season, Buxton has played very well, both defensively and as a batter. He's .262/.314/.513 with 10 homers, 46 RBI, 30 doubles and four triples.
The Twins are 14-17 in games that Buxton hasn't played this season.
Pineda is dealing with a right triceps injury. In unclear if Pineda will need more than 10 days to recover, but he's sure to miss at least one scheduled start. The right-hander has been very good in his last 11 starts, and is arguably Minnesota's second-best starting pitcher at this point behind Jose Berrios.
Good news: The Twins reinstated C.J. Cron from the injury list.
