Bad news for the Twins as Byron Buxton has suffered a setback and had his rehab assignment in the minor leagues halted, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic.

According to Hayes, Buxton felt something in his injured shoulder during batting practice each of the last two days (Sunday, Monday). An MRI came back clean but nonetheless his rehab assignment has come to an abrupt halt.

There is now word yet from the Twins on the Buxton situation, but it certainly delays his return to the big leagues. There was hope that Buxton could rejoin the Twins this week.

With Buxton still battling the injury, expect to see more of outfielder Jake Cave in the coming days. Cave has homered three times in his last two games.
