DETROIT -- Jamey Carroll's RBI single in the 10th-inning gave the Twins a 2-1 win over Detroit Sunday night, capping a day-night doubleheader sweep for Minnesota.

In the first game, Joe Mauer knocked in four runs in the Twins' 10-4 win. For details of that game,CLICK HERE.

In the nightcap, Carroll drove in Denard Span, who pinch-hit for Pedro Florimon to start the 10th inning. Span moved over to second when Ben Revere grounded out.

Jesse Crain got the save in the bottom of the inning, as Detroit missed on a major opportunity to move into first place in the American League Central Division. With both losses, Detroit is now one game behind the Chicago White Sox, who lost to Anaheim Sunday. The White Sox have lost five straight games.

The Twins, meanwhile, are again out of last place in the AL Central, one game in front of Cleveland. Minnesota improved to 64-89 on the season, eclipsing their win total of 2011, when they finished 63-99 on the year.

The Twins return to Target Field for their final homestand of the year Monday, facing the New York Yankees, followed by Detroit.
