Minnesota Timberwolves 107

Cleveland Cavaliers 114

The Minnesota Timberwolves battled back repeatedly Monday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but eventually they ran out of fight, falling to the Cavs 114-107 in Cleveland.

It was the first win for rookie coach Tyronn Lue.

1. Wolves youth with impressive showing

Wolves rookie Karl-Anthony Towns had another impressive stat line Monday night, but he wasn't alone. Towns scored 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds, dished out four assists and blocked a shot for Minnesota.

Andrew Wiggins, who always plays well against Cleveland, chipped in 20 points and Zach LaVine had 21. Not a bad night for the Wolves young stars.

2. Lack of Love

LeBron James (25), Kyrie Irving (17) and Kevin Love (11) combined for 53 points in the victory. But it appears Love may be on thin ice in Cleveland.

Trade rumors are circulating and the former Timberwolves star still isn't really fitting in.

Love was in double figures with 11 points, but he didn't get there easily, going 1-of-7 from the three-point line on the night.

For what it's worth, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports that Cavaliers GM David Griffen has not had any trade talks involving Love.

3. Road struggles set in

It was the ninth straight road loss for the Timberwolves, who started the year playing some of their best games away from Target Center.

Tweet of the Night:
