MSU 3, Gophers 2 (OT)

Minnesota State scored two goals with three minutes left in regulation to tie, then got the winning goal in overtime to beat the Golden Gophers in men's hockey Saturday night at Mariucci Arena.

The Gophers led 2-0 well into the third period when the Mavericks scored two goals – the second with just 44 seconds left – to force the extra period.

The two teams split their home-and-home series, as Minnesota won 4-0 in Mankato Friday night.

UMD 2, Denver 1 (OT)

Tony Cameranesi scored the first 3-on-3 overtime goal in National Collegiate Hockey Conference history to give the UMD Bulldogs a 2-1 victory over the University of Denver Saturday night at Amsoil Arena, according to Bulldog Sports.

The NCHC this season introduced a new 5-minute 3-on-3 overtime when teams are still tied after the first overtime period. The winner of the 3-on-3 gets an extra league point.

Cameranesi also scored UMD's only other goal in the third period to tie the game.

Goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo had 19 saves for the Bulldogs (3-5-3 overall, 0-3-1-1/0 in the NCHC). Both teams went 0-for-4 on the power play.

UMD travels to Colorado College next Friday and Saturday.

St. Cloud State blasts Western Michigan 11-1

St. Cloud State routed Western Michigan 11-1 Saturday night to sweep their two-game series.

Joey Benik scored a hat trick-plus-one, and the Huskies scored four goals in two of the three periods to overpower Western Michigan, College Hockey News reports. St. Cloud State led in shots on goal, 45 to 28.

The Huskies tallied a 5-2 victory over the Broncos Friday night.

Gopher women beat Bemidji State 8-3

The Gopher women's hockey team remains without a loss after defeating Bemidji State 8-3 Saturday afternoon, taking both games of the weekend series.

Gophers senior Hannah Brandt scored a career-high five goals, including her 100th career goal, to become the Gopher women's hockey program's all-time career leading scorer, according to GopherSports.com.

Brandt now has 247 career points (104 goals, 143 assists), surpassing Minnesota's previous program record held by Natalie Darwitz at 246 career points (102 goals, 144 assists).

Amanda Leveille had 16 saves for the Gophers (11-1-0, 9-1-0 WCHA), who outshot the Beavers, 44-19.

BSU (10-3-2, 7-3-1 WCHA) gave up a season-high eight goals Saturday in the loss, according to the Bemidji Pioneer.

Minnesota hosts Yale in a nonconference series next weekend.

BSU hosts Minnesota State University Mankato next weekend.
