College Hockey Roundup: Bulldogs extend unbeaten streak

Dominic Toninato and Andy Welinski had goals to lead No. 6 Minnesota Duluth to a 2-1 victory over No. 7 Massachusetts-Lowell.

Welinski added an assist on Toninato's goal for a two-point night.

The victory extends the Bulldogs' unbeaten streak to five straight games. The same two teams will do it again on Saturday night in Duluth.

Mavericks freeze Nanooks, win third straight

The Minnesota State Mankato Mavericks won their third straight game Friday night as they beat Alaska Fairbanks 5-2.

Four different Mavericks scored on the night but Sean Flanagan had a big night, he finished with two goals and two assists to lead the Mavericks to the victory.

Minnesota State outshot the Nanooks 45-14, and were 2 of 4 on the power play.

The series continues Saturday night in Mankato.

Goaltenders shine in scoreless tie between Bemidji and Northern Michigan

Bemidji State's Michael Bitzer and Northern Michigan's Atte Tolvanen were brick walls as they dueled to a 0-0 tie Friday night, in Marquette, Michigan.

The Beavers fired 45 shots at Tolvanen, but nothing got by. While Bitzer did his job stopping all 22 shots he faced. It was just the second scoreless tie in the history of Bemidji State hockey.

The series continues in Michigan Saturday night.
