College Hockey Roundup: Gophers fall to Penn State in overtime

The Gophers hockey team dropped the first game of a big weekend Big Ten series at Penn State 3-2, Friday night.
Vince Pedrie's overtime goal ended the game at the 3:57 mark of overtime. The win pulled Penn State even with Minnesota in the Big Ten Conference point standings.
After a scoreless first period, the Nittany Lions scored twice in the second on goals from Andrew Sturtz and Zach Saar.
Minnesota rallied in the third on a pair of goals from Brent Gates.

But Minnesota's rally wasn't enough as Pedrie put the game away in o-t. The same two teams will continue the series Saturday evening at Penn State.
Northern Michigan 3, Minnesota State Mankato 1

Darren Norwick had a pair of goals to lead Northern Michigan to a 3-1 victory over Minnesota State University Mankato, Friday night.
The Mavericks outshot Northern Michigan 42-20, but their only goal came shorthanded by Brett Knowles – his third goal of the season.
St. Cloud State 2, Colorado College 1
The St. Cloud State Huskies held off Colorado College 2-1 Friday night.
The Huskies scored a pair of goals in the first period, then held on for the victory. Mikey Eyssimont and Patrick Russell netted goals in the first period giving St. Cloud a 2-0 lead.
Colorado College's Cody Bradley scored in the second period to make it a one-goal game, but they couldn't get any closer.
