The Minnesota Gophers returned to Big Ten play with a 4-3 overtime loss to Michigan on Friday night.

Cutler Martin netted the game-winning goal for the Wolverines at the 2:16 mark of overtime. It completed Michigan's comeback after the Gophers had taken a third period lead.

Travis Boyd, Justin Kloos and Connor Reilly had the Minnesota goals.

"When you put yourself up 3-2 with under 10 minutes to go in the game you have to close it out," said Gophers coach Don Lucia afterwards. "We didn't get it off the guys stick on the next rush down the rink and those are the plays you have to make if you want to close out a good team."

The same two teams continue their series Saturday in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Bulldogs knock off top-ranked North Dakota

The University of Minnesota Duluth scored three goals in the final nine minutes and upended top-ranked North Dakota 4-1 Friday night in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Connor Gaarder's third goal of the season evened the score at one, but the Bulldogs rattled off three goals in the closing minutes to put the game away.

Tony Cameranesi, Carson Soucy and Alex Iafallo all lit the lamp in the final moments for Minnesota Duluth.

St. Cloud State stuns Miami

After Miami took a 1-0 lead, St. Cloud State rattled off three unanswered goals to beat Miami 3-1 Friday night.

David Morley scored twice and Joe Rehkamp netted his first goal of the season, but the real story of the game was Huskies goaltender Charlie Lindgren, who made 37 saves.

Mavericks victorious with three in the third

Three third period goals for Minnesota State University broke open the game with Lake Superior State and lifted Minnesota State to a 5-2 victory in Mankato Friday night.

Zach Palmquist, Zach Stepan and Bryce Gervais all had goals in that decisive third period for the Mavericks.

Beavers shutout Alabama-Huntsville

Bemidji State shutout Alabama-Huntsville 4-0 Friday night.

Kyle Bauman had a goal and an assist for Bemidji State, while the Beavers held UAH to 18 shots on goal. All of them were stopped by Michael Bitzer, who improved to 4-5-1.
