The Coon Rapids Cardinal fell short in its bid to play in the Little League World Series, losing in the Midwest Championship game Saturday in Indianapolis.

The Cardinal lost 10-0 to Webb City, Missouri, according to the Star Tribune.

Webb City dominated Coon Rapids' pitchers, scoring three runs in the first, second and fourth innings, including back-to-back home runs in the second (box score here).

The game ended after the fourth inning; according to Little League rules, the game ends if the winning team has a lead of 10 runs or more after four innings, the Star Tribune notes.

A message posted on the team's Facebook page congratulated Webb City on the victory and wished them good luck at the upcoming World Series.

"Cardinals, on behalf of Coon Rapids Cardinal Little League, the city of Coon Rapids and the state of Minnesota I am proud to say Congratulations on your journey. You have made it so far and we are all so very proud of each and every one of you! You have fought hard and accomplished so much! These are memories you will have forever!"

Coon Rapids advanced to the regional championship by defeating Rapid City, South Dakota, 15-7 on Thursday.

The Little League World Series is scheduled for Aug. 20-30 in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
