Cooper standout Rashad Vaughn drafted at No. 17 by Milwaukee

It didn't take 20 picks before the first Minnesotan was taken in the first round of Thursday night's NBA Draft.

Former Robbinsdale Cooper star Rashad Vaughn was taken in the first round by the Milwaukee Bucks. Vaughn, a 6-foot-5 scoring guard, averaged 17.8 points and 4.8 rebounds a game for UNLV. He was selected with the No. 17 overall pick.

A knee injury caused Vaughn to miss the end of his only season at UNLV, so he may have slipped further in the draft than expected, but still seems poised to do well in the NBA.

According to the Bleacher Report, Vaughn could be a steal in this year's draft class. The report notes that he distinguishes himself from others in the draft class because of his versatility and his ability to score in a variety of ways.
