Until Sunday no team had held the Texas Rangers scoreless through an entire game. Nor had anyone beaten them twice in a row. Chalk up a couple of firsts for the feisty 2013 version of the Minnesota Twins.

Kevin Correia pitched eight shutout innings and a Justin Morneau home run helped the Twins to a 5-0 victory over the Rangers at Target Field.

Morneau's second homer of the season came with two outs in the sixth. Jamey Carroll and Brian Dozier joined Morneau in collecting two hits apiece on the afternoon.

Correia allowed just six hits in his eight innings. Casey Fien pitched the ninth to finish the whitewash.

More than 35,000 spring-starved fans enjoyed the balmy afternoon in Minneapolis.

The victory came on the heels of Saturday's 7-2 Twins victory. It gives Minnesota a winning record on the season at 11-10. They now hit the road for a 10-game trip that begins Monday night in Detroit. Mike Pelfrey is scheduled to start against the Tigers' Max Scherzer.
