Championship games set in state boys' basketball tournament

The top seed in Class 1A boys' basketball Minneapolis North cruised its way past Red Lake 82-61 Friday afternoon and they'll play Saturday in the state championship game.

Jamil Jackson led the Polars with 21 points and 9 rebounds while Pat Wembley added 12 points and 7 rebounds and Isaac Johnsonscored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.

Minneapolis North will meet Goodhue in the Class 1A championship game on Saturday.

Goodhue 41, Central Minnesota Christian 38

Goodhue is headed to their first Class 1A championship game after they beat Central Minnesota Christian 41-38 in the semifinals Friday.

The Wildcats made just 12 field goals in the game, but that was enough to hold off the Blue Jays. Jacob McNamara led Goodhue with 14 points and nine rebounds. Ben Opsahl added 11.

The Blue Jays cut the Goodhue lead to one with 1:38 to play on a three-pointer by Jaxson Schwitters, but the Wildcats made their free throws and played defense at the end to fend Central Minnesota Christian off.

The Wildcats meet up with Minneapolis North in the 1A championship Saturday.

Class 2A

Braham 86, St. Croix Lutheran 77

Braham knocked off top seed St. Croix Lutheran 86-77 to move into Saturday's Class 2A Championship.

Four Bombers finished the game in double figures, led by Chris Olson, who posted a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Ryan Larson added 22 of his own to go with six assists.

Ade Murkey and Trenton Krueger led the Crusaders – both posted double-doubles. Murkey finished with 26 points and 12 boards, while Krueger added 24 points and 11 rebounds.

One of Murkey's dunks brought Target Center to its feet.

Braham moves into the Class 2A title game on Saturday against Jackson County Central.

Jackson County Central 63, Annandale 46

Jackson County Central will play for the Class 2A championship Saturday in their first trip to the state boys basketball tournament. The Huskies beat Annandale 63-46 in the semifinals.

Six-foot-nine post Body Behrends was too much for the Cardinals to stop. Behrends finished with 20 points and eight rebounds. Mat Ringkob added 19 as he connected on 3-of-6 from behind the three-point line.

Alex Hohenstein led Annandale with 12.

Jackson County Central will meet up with Braham in the Class 2A title game.
