Not long after the NBA suspended its season as a precaution for the novel coronavirus, the NHL announced that it's weighing its options.

"The NHL is aware of the NBA's decision tonight to indefinitely suspend its season due to a player testing positive for the coronavirus," the league said in a statement. "The NHL is continuing to consult with medical experts and is evaluating the options. We expect to have a further update tomorrow."

The Minnesota Wild entered play Wednesday with 77 points, one point out of a wild-card spot in a very tight Western Conference playoff race.

They're supposed to host the Vegas Golden Knights Thursday night in St. Paul.

The NBA's unprecedented decision to suspend the season came moments after Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19.
