For the third time this month, the Gophers have lost a 2020 recruit.
C.J. West, a three-star defensive tackle from Illinois, announced on Twitter Tuesday that he's withdrawn his commitment to the Gophers to allow more colleges to seek him out.
The 6-foot-2, 305-pound interior lineman is rated as the 17th-best Class of 2020 recruit in Illinois, according to 247 Sports.
The recruiting website doesn't list any other Power Conference schools as having offered West a scholarship, but the reopening of his recruitment could change things.
Earlier this month, three-star junior college linebacker Juwan Mitchell made news when deciding to withdraw his verbal commitment to the Gophers to instead commit to play for the Texas Longhorns. Then, last week, Winona High School three-star defensive end Aaron Witt reopened his recruitment.
Minnesota has six commits in its 2020 recruiting class, which 247 Sports ranks 35th in the nation.
