Demoralized Wild need a miracle to come back from the dead

Mike Yeo says it will take "character and belief" for the Wild to keep its season alive, according to the Star Tribune.

In other words, he knows the chances are remarkably slim and they're going to need a miracle to beat the Blackhawks, trailing the best-of-seven series 3-0.

Miracle, as defined by the dictionary: "aneffectorextraordinaryeventinthephysicalworldthatsurpasses allknownhumanornaturalpowersandisascribedtoasupernatural cause."

In all likelihood, the Wild won't become the fifth team in NHL history to win a series after trailing 3-0 in a best-of seven series. If they do, it'll be because the players have the "character and belief" to come back from the dead, like Yeo says they did to keep their season alive when down-and-out in January.

It will be tough to find believers outside of the Wild's locker room.

Chicago Tribune

"This wasn't a team standing up on its home ice to make this a series. This looked more like the beginning of a surrender. Only four teams in NHL history have overcome a 3-0 series deficit, and the Wild appear much too demoralized to become the fifth."

"We interrupt this program from the State of Hockey for a message from the State of Shock.

"This wasn’t supposed to happen. The Minnesota Wild tore through the second half of the regular season as if opponents were standing still, then stunned the division champion St. Louis Blues in the first round of the playoffs. Surely, the home team’s third assignment in as many springs against those hated Blackhawks would be the charm. For one thing, the Wild thought that at last they had the edge in goal, the most important position of them all."
