Despite injury, Vonn still wins World Cup title

A season-ending knee injury didn't stop St. Paul native Lindsey Vonn from winning her sixth consecutive World Cup downhill championship.

According to the Associated Press, fog forced the cancellation of a race in Switzerland today. That meant Slovenia's Tina Maze couldn't race -- and as a result -- finished second to Vonn in the overall standings.

Second, by one point.

Maze needed to finish only in the top 14 to win this year's title.

Vonn, meanwhile, continues to rehab her injured right knee. Last month, she tore her anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments and broke a bone in her lower leg when her right ski stuck in softer snow on landing a jump.

Vonn also made headlines -- tabloid headlines -- over the weekend for her latest pairing with golfer Tiger Woods. The two were reportedly together in South Florida, staying on Woods' yacht, "Privacy."
