The relationship was hanging on. It is now over.

Former football coach Jerry Kill is officially no longer tied to the University of Minnesota after becoming the Associate Athletics Director at Kansas State.

In October, Kill abruptly retired due to health reasons and since that time had been working to secure an administrative athletics position at the University. When Minnesota went outside to find the school's next AD, Mark Coyle, Kill quietly began looking elsewhere.

In February, Kill told the Star Tribune that, moving forward, his only ties to the school would be as an independent contractor.

According to the Wichita Eagle, Kill now joins Kansas State as the associate athletics director. Kill will not coach football but he will work with both athletic director, John Currie, and football coach Bill Snyder. Kill and Snyder have a long history and Kill will apparently work with Snyder's team.

Kill replaces departed Clint Dowdle who left K-State.

Kill was born in Cheney, Kansas, and played linebacker at NAIA Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. Kill coached the Gophers for five seasons and went 29-29. His overall record as a head coach is 156-102.
