Sunday's season opener between the Buccaneers and Dolphins in Miami has been postponed because of Hurricane Irma, the NFL announced this morning.
Per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the game will be made up Sunday, Nov. 19. Luckily, both the Dolphins and Buccaneers had bye weeks in Week 11. Not so lucky, this now means both teams will have to play 16 consecutive weeks without a bye.
Hurricane Irma's exact path remains uncertain, but it's certainly possible that it makes a direct hit on South Florida this weekend, according to Weather.com.
This is big news for fantasy football fans, too. Jameis Winston, Mike Evans, Desean Jackson and Doug Martin are commonly rostered fantasy players from the Bucs. For the Dolphins, it's bad news for fantasy owners of Jay Ajayi and DeVante Parker.
In college football, the Miami Hurricanes have canceled travel plans and will not play Saturday's scheduled game against Arkansas State, according to ESPN.
