Lindsey Vonn took another step to the all-time record for World Cup wins as she secured a dominant downhill win in Germany.

The Minnesota skier created history on Saturday by breaking her own record of the most World Cup wins in a single discipline, with the victory at Garmisch-Partenkirchen her 38th World Cup Downhill victory, the Associated Press reports.

She cruised to victory, comfortably beating the field on the challenging Kandahar downhill course, finishing with a time of 1:40.80, some 1.51 seconds ahead of 2nd place Fabienne Suter, of Switzerland, according to RealVail.

It is her 76th World Cup win, which already makes her the most decorated woman ski racer in World Cup history, the website notes, but now she's just 11 wins away from overhauling the men's record holder – Jan Ingemar Stenmark of Sweden.

“It was a great day!" she said. "Every day is a new chance to break my own record. Every win for me is more special than the last. And my dad is here, so it’s really special."

Eurosport notes Vonn's 5th downhill victory of the season also increases her lead in the overall World Cup standings. She is now 127 points ahead of Lara Gut of Switzerland.
