Done in by the Devils, Wild end road trip with fourth straight loss

The Minnesota Wild dropped their fourth straight game on Tuesday night. They fell to the New Jersey Devils 3-1, finishing their three-game road trip without a victory.

Very little has gone right for the Wild during those four games. Minnesota's offense has struggled without leader Zach Parise as the Wild have been dramatically outscored over that stretch.

During those four games the Wild have scored just three goals on 124 shots – a success rate of just over 2 percent.

New Jersey goalie Cory Schneider bounced back from a tough night in Boston to stop 23 of the 24 shots he faced and turned the Wild away repeatedly.

Fairbault native and Gophers alum Seth Helgeson made his NHL debut for the Devils on Tuesday. He was called up from Albany in the AHL to join the team.

Helgeson factored into the game as well He fired a shot from the point that Tuomo Ruutu tipped in to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. New Jersey pushed the lead to 2-0 when Mike Cammalleri netted his sixth goal of the season.

It stayed that way until the third, when former Devil Ryan Carter scored a short-handed goal to cut the Devil's lead to one, but Minnesota couldn't close the gap in the closing minutes.

The Devils then put the game on ice with an empty net goal from Travis Zajac.

The loss ends the Wild road trip, and they return home to host Buffalo on Thursday.
