Don't forget to buy a jar of Metrodome junk at TwinsFest

The gates to Target Field will open at 4 p.m. Friday as TwinsFest kicks off, marking the unofficial start of baseball season in Minnesota.

But while you're enjoying wider concourses than the Metrodome ever offered, don't completely forget the Dome. Consider this: after you take a picture with Joe Mauer and give Paul Molitor some advice on how to best utilize Brian Dozier and Kennys Vargas, give some thought to spending a few dollars on a jar of Dome junk.

We are not kidding. Dome junk is being sold in jars at TwinsFest.

The creators, Nick Vetter and Joel Bradley, according to City Pages, are calling their product "Home Sweet Domepourri." No word on how it smells (maybe like a Dome Dog?), but the jars are filled with ground up field turf, roof, rubber field pellets, seats, cupholders, astroturf and more. The duo bought up a bunch of scraps while the Metrodome was being taken down last year.

"It's a nice conversation piece and we think it will bring smiles to a lot of faces," said Vetter. "A lot of people have a lot of great memories from the Dome."

Four-ounce jars cost $5 and $15 will get you an eight-ounce jar. You can also pay a bit more if you buy them on Ebay.

As Michael Rand of the Star Tribune notes, if there was a demand for Metrodome urinal troughs, then it's no surprise that there's a market for a jar of Dome junk.

Tickets to TwinsFest are $20 for adults and $10 for kids 14-and-under. For a view of everything happening at TwinsFest, check out
