The Minnesota Twins opened their weekend four-game set with the Chicago White Sox with an impressive 12-2 victory.

Brian Dozier's three-run homer highlighted a seven-run third inning for the Twins. Dozier finished 2-for-5 on the night with the home run and four RBIs.

Joe Mauer also had a big night for the Twins, finishing 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Trevor May (2-1) was the winning pitcher. While May did not complete six innings, he did hold the White Sox to two runs on 10 hits, while striking out four.

This time the Twins bullpen did their job, as Caleb Thielbar, Michael Tonkin and J.R. Graham kept the White Sox off the scoreboard over the final 3 1/3 innings.

The big disappointment was White Sox ace Chris Sale (2-1). He gave up nine runs (eight earned) on nine hits in just three innings. Coming into the game, Sale had allowed a total of nine earned runs to the Twins in nine starts at Target Field.

Kyle Gibson (1-2) heads to the mound on Friday night against Chicago left-hander Jose Quintana.
