Duluth's Anna Ringsred experienced her Olympic moment on day two of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.

Ringsred finished 26th in the 3000-meter ladies' speedskating race. It was the only event of the games for Ringsred, the Duluth East graduate.

She finished with a time 4:21.51. That put her about 21 seconds behind gold medalist Irene Wust of the Neitherlands.

According to the Star Tribune, Ringsred, 29, skated the race about three seconds slower than she had hoped, but that didn't put a damper on the rest of the experience.

"(The ice) was slower than I expected," Ringsred told the Star Tribune. "I came around and saw my time, and I was kind of surprised. With the effort I was giving, I thought it would be a bit faster."

She was paired with one of her best friends in speedskating for the race at Adler Arena. Many of her friends on the U.S. women's hockey team were there to cheer her on. Her family was there too, for the race that took place at 5:30 a.m. (Minnesota time) Sunday.
