Edina and Blake capture state championships in girls hockey
Two Minnesota high schools were crowned state champions in girls hockey on Saturday.
In Class A, the Blake School defeated St. Paul United 6-2. It was the second year in a row the two schools met in the championship game.
It's the third championship in the past four years for Blake and their seventh overall, which is a state record.
In Class 2A the Edina Hornets captured their first state championship with a 4-0 victory over Blaine.
Edina was the top seed in Class 2A and the team is loaded with talent – they have eight players committed to Division I universities.
Hornets head coach Sami Reber became the first female head coach to win a MSHSL 2A state hockey championship.
