Ervin Santana scratched from Sunday start, Tyler Duffey called up

Tyler Duffey has been called up from Triple-A to start for the Twins in their Sunday game against the Washington Nationals.

The Star Tribune reports that Duffey will take the place of Ervin Santana, who has been scratched with a stiff back.

Duffey was beaten to a spot in this year's rotation by Ricky Nolasco, but has impressed with a 1.72 ERA through three starts at Class AAA Rochester, the newspaper notes.

CBS notes that Duffey made 10 starts for the Twins last year, posting a 3.10 ERA across 58 innings, going 5-1

Today's Knuckleball suggests some Twins fans might be clamoring for the debut of the highly-rated Jose Berrios, who has also been hugely impressive in Rochester.

But it points out that Duffey is on the Twins 40-man roster and Berrios is not, and the move "makes sense from a logistical standpoint" as Santana is only expected to miss this one start.
