Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen missed practice on Wednesday, while undergoing some tests.

ESPN's Ben Goessling reports Griffen, who missed Sunday's game against Kansas City with what the team described as an illness, underwent a heart-related test this week.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer told reporters Wednesday, "He's finishing up some tests today. We're anticipating that he'll finish good."

Pro Football Talk notes that as long as everything goes according to plan, Griffen is expected to be back on the field Thursday and in the lineup Sunday when the Vikings travel to Detroit.

His absence created a bit of a stir in Minnesota's 16-10 victory over Kansas City. The NFL is looking into the Vikings' failure to disclose the change in Griffen's health as required by league rules.

The team says he came down with the illness some time after the final injury report was issued Friday afternoon and before Sunday's in-actives had to be turned in.

Robinson returns to practice

Zimmer said cornerback Josh Robinson returned to practice Wednesday for the first time this season. He has been on the Physically Unable to Perform list since the start of training camp.

Robinson had a partially torn pectoral and will be able to practice with the team for the next three weeks, before the team is required to add him to their 53-man roster or shut him down for the rest of the season.

Zimmer told reporters Wednesday he doesn't know when to expect Robinson to return to the roster.

"He comes to all meetings and pays attention and all that stuff," Zimmer said. "I don't know. We'll just have to see how it goes (Wednesday0 as we get going this week. It's different from when you're watching than when you're covering somebody. So that will be a little different, I'm sure."

Robinson told the Pioneer Press he suffered the injury on a weird fall last June during spring drills.
