Ex-Viking Letroy Guion facing felony charges after arrest

Former Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Letroy Guion, who now plays for the Green Bay Packers, is facing felony charges after being arrested in Starke, Florida Tuesday night for possession of marijuana and a firearm, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Barry Warren of the Starke Police Deparment told the newspaper that Florida laws stipulate that marijuana possession is separated by less than or more than 20 grams, and Guion "definitely" had more than 20.

"We are aware of a serious matter involving Letroy Guion. We have not yet spoken to Letroy and we will have no further comment," the Packers said in a statement, according to FOX Sports North.

Guion, who is set to become a free agent, finished his 2014 season with a career-high 3.5 sacks and 32 tackles. ESPN's Ross Demosvsky reports that the Packers had recently began discussions about signing Guion to a long-term deal. He played his first six seasons in the NFL with the Vikings.

Guion isn't the first current or former NFL player to be arrested since Super Bowl Sunday; he's the fifth.

Pro Football Talk notes that Guion is the first Packer to be arrested since 2011.
