It was a lot of fun attending the Timberwolves Shootout over the weekend. Hopkins boy's basketball looked very good and it was fun to see Tyus Jones join the 1,000 point club. Overall, I went home confident that Minnesota high school basketball is better than South Dakota, Iowa, and Wisconsin hoops. That's a great feeling! Anyway ... to the list...

5. Duluth East senior shows off at the Shootout
Johnny Woodard scored 31 points and pulled down 13 rebounds as Duluth East rolled over previously unbeaten Rice Lake, WI at the Timberwolves Shootout. It was Woodard's first game of the season. He suffered a torn shoulder muscle in July and hadn't played in a game since the injury.

4. Tyus Jones reaches 1,000 point club
The super sophomore from Apple Valley reached the 1,000 point club in the Eagles' win over Onalaska, WI at the Timberwolves Shootout. Jones finished with 18 points.

3. Prairie Seeds Academy sets state scoring record
The Lycans obliterated Math and Science Academy, 165-37. Needless to say, 165 points for one team is a single game state record. Charter schools own the top six scoring games in state history, according to the Star Tribune.

2. Jenna Privette gets a visit from Jack Jablonski's mom
Privette still has no feeling below her waste, but she is in stable condition at Hennepin County Medical Center. WCCO reports that Privette's spirits were lifted when Jack Jablonski's mother visited her in the hospital. Privette, who like Jack Jablonski, was injured after being checked from behind during a hockey game last week.

1. 'Chuck-a-Puck' for Jablonski ends in serendipitous fashion

It was an incredible ending to a "Chuck-a-Puck" fundraiser for paralyzed Benilde-St. Margaret's player Jack Jablonski at the Blaine-Wayzata hockey game Saturday. The mini-miracle in this story is that the fan who threw the winning puck is the same junior varsity hockey player from Wayzata that checked Jablonski from behind.
