Professional golf legend Arnold Palmer will not make his scheduled appearance on Saturday at the 3M Championship at the TPC Twin Cities, in Blaine.

The Star Tribune reports that Palmer will miss Saturday's Greats of Golf Challenge citing fatigue. The 85-year-old Palmer was to appear as a ride-along captain with former LPGA stars Annika Sorenstam, Pat Bradley and Nancy Lopez.

Executive Tournament Director Hollis Cavner told The Associated Press that Palmer called him Thursday saying he needed the extra rest after spending a few weeks in England. Cavner added that Palmer was tired and not feeling well, but that his absence is nothing serious.

The Greats of Golf event will go on as planned. Both Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player will be among the big draws to tee off after the 3M Championship leaders.

Palmer had been a staple at the event since the tournament began 23 years ago. He played in it from 1994-2005 and drew huge crowds when he appeared in exhibition events.

The AP notes that Palmer and famed Minnesota golfer Tom Lehman designed the course.
