Favre blames himself for messy Packers divorce

He says he has no regrets, but former Viking Brett Favre is admitting publicly for the first time that he was partially at fault for the way his time ended with the Green Bay Packers.

In an interview on a Buffalo, N.Y., radio station, No. 4 said that he realizes that his final days in Wisconsin were a bit awkward.

"It's over and done with," Favre said. "I was at fault."

After hemming and hawing and driving everyone nuts, Favre retired after the 2007 season -- only to un-retire in 2008. But by then Aaron Rodgers was the golden boy in Green Bay, and Favre was traded to the Jets . In 2009, Favre almost led the Vikings to the Super Bowl.

All of this is leading, of course, to the Packers eventually retiring Favre's number at Lambeau Field down the road.

As Rodgers said in February: "It's time to heal things up."
