Forbes magazine has released its annual valuations of Major League Baseball franchises.

The Minnesota Twins have a team value of $578 million -- up 13 percent from $510 million last season. That ranks 20th out of 30 MLB teams.

The Minnesota ball club, which the Pohlad family bought for $44 million in 1984, topped half a billion dollars for the first time last season.

Once again, the New York Yankees are the most valuable team in baseball with an estimated worth of $2.3 billion.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies round out the top five. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Rays are the least valuable baseball team at $451 million.

The average MLB team is now worth $744 million, up 23 percent from a year ago.
