A.J. Barker, the former Gopher walk-on receiver, was arrested in Houston Sunday night for marijuana possession, the Pioneer Press reports.

According to court records, Barker, 21, was arrested around 11 p.m. on the University of Houston campus. He posted $500 bail and was ordered to appear in court on Feb. 14.

The St. Paul native and DeLaSalle standout quit the Gophers toward the end of the season and accepted a football scholarship at the University of Houston.

After suffering a high ankle sprain, Barker said his decision to leave Minnesota came after a heated discussion with head coach Jerry Kill over not being healthy enough to play yet.

Barker was the team's leading receiver with 30 catches for 577 yards and seven touchdowns.

Spring semester classes began Monday in Houston. The Star Tribune reports it's unclear how this incident will impact Barker's long-term status.
