Former Twins pitcher Matt Garza threw six-and-a-third scoreless innings and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Minnesota Twins 6-2 in the home and home series opener, Monday night.

Kyle Gibson took the loss for the Twins. He gave up four runs on six hits, in six innings of work.

Jonathan Lucroy had a big night to lead the Brewers. He finished 3 for 4 with a home run and 2RBIs. Mark Reynolds also homered, for Milwaukee.

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning, when Lucroy drove in the first run of the game, with a single to score Jean Segura and put the Brewers on the scoreboard. Former Twins outfielder Carlos Gomez then pushed the lead to 2-0 with a single to score Lucroy.

The Brewers added two more in the fifth on Reynolds' two-run homer.

In the meantime, Garza kept his former team off the scoreboard, and struck out eight.

Joe Mauer led the Twins, he was 3 for 5 and scored a run, on the evening. But with a pair of runners in scoring position in a key at bat, in the fifth inning, Mauer struck out.

Josh Willingham and Brian Dozier drove in the two Twins runs. Willingham was 2 for 2 on the night and Dozier was 2 for 5.

The Twins and Brewers play the final game in Milwaukee on Tuesday, before returning to Minnesota to finish it up on Wednesday and Thursday.
