Former Minnesota Vikings defensive back Darren Sharper was arrested on suspicion of rape, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Sharper was arrested and booked on Friday, according to the Associated Press. He was released on $200,000 bail just before midnight.

According to the AP report, the LAPD was investigating Sharper in connection with two sexual assaults. One occurred in October, the other earlier this month in the West Los Angeles area.

CBS Sports reports the New Orleans Police Department is also investigating Sharper for a separate sexual assault allegation in Louisiana.

Sharper played in the NFL for 14 seasons, including four seasons with the Vikings. He spent most of his career with the Green Bay Packers and finished his career with New Orleans after the 2010 season.

He was selected All-Pro six times and played in five Pro Bowls. Sharper also recorded 63 interceptions in his career and was named part of the NFL 2000's All-Decade Team.

He has worked as an analyst for the NFL Network since he retired in 2010. ESPN reports that Sharper has been suspended without pay, effective immediately.
