Former Viking Williams agrees to deal with Seahawks

Like so many of his former teammates, Kevin Williams is moving west, to Seattle.

The former Viking defensive tackle agreed to a one-year contract to join the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks.

Williams, who will be 34 in August, is entering his 12th season in the NFL. He has only played for the Vikings since he was drafted in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft.

The Seahawks announced Williams' signing on Twitter, Thursday.

While he is aging, Williams has been sturdy over his NFL career. He has missed just five games in 11 years with the Vikings.

1500 ESPN says the list of former Vikings who are now Seattle includes Tavaris Jackson, Heath Farwell, Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin. Former Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell holds the same position there.

After the Vikings allowed Williams to test free agency, he visited both the New York Giants and Seahawks in April. Williams also recently visited the Patriots.

Earlier this week, though, he told NFL's SiriusXM NFL Radio that the Vikings might also be trying to bring him back in.

"I just believed that it probably was the best fit," Williams told the Pioneer Press. "Just the direction that team has been going. They've got a quarterback and they're coming off a Super Bowl. They've got a great young team."

The Star Tribune reports Williams posted a career-low with 29 tackles last season. He also had 3.5 sacks and an interception. For his career, he recorded 463 tackles and 60 sacks. He was selected to six Pro Bowls, during his 11 years in Minnesota.
