One Vikings legend will present another one in next month's induction ceremonies at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

Vikings Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton will be the presenter for his longtime teammate Mick Tingelhoff, who enters the hall on August 8.

ESPN's Ben Goessling reports it will be Tarkenton's first trip back to Canton since he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1986.

Many Vikings fans feel Tingelhoff's induction long overdue. He played for the Vikings from 1962-78, starting 24o consecutive games during that stretch.

He and Tarkenton were teammates for two different stretches, first from 1962-66, then again from 1972-78. The pair formed a bond that has lasted long after their football days. Tarkenton still calls Tingelhoff his best friend.

The Daily Norseman notes that Tingelhoff joined the Vikings as an unsigned free agent in 1962. He is one of just 11 players to have played in all four of the Vikings' Super Bowl appearances.

Tarkenton was with Minnesota for three of them.

Tingelhoff will be the sixth hall of famer from the Viking Super Bowl teams coached by Bud Grant. ESPN notes the 88-year-old coach is planning to attend.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 8 will be televised on the NFL Network.

The following day the Vikings will play in the Hall of Fame Game against the Pittsburgh Steelers – one of the teams Tingelhoff and the Vikings lost to during those four Super Bowls.
