Gabe Kalscheur announces he's transferring to Iowa State
Former Minnesota Golden Gophers guard Gabe Kalscheur announced that he is transferring to Iowa State. His decision came on Saturday morning as he thanked the Gopher program and expressed excitement toward a "fresh start" in Ames.
The DeLaSalle High School graduate entered the transfer portal once Ben Johnson was hired to replace Richard Pitino last month. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 9.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists last season but saw his season come to an end after breaking a finger on his shooting hand in February.
Kalscheur was one of eight players that entered the transfer portal after Johnson was hired. Marcus Carr, Liam Robbins and Jamal Mashburn Jr. are among those players, leaving the roster with major turnover heading into next season.
