Mitch Garver hit his sixth home run of the season but the Minnesota Twins' bats couldn't get going in a 3-1 loss to the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.
The Twins got off to a good start when Garver hit a solo home run in the second inning but Hyeon-Jeong Yang struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings to silence Minnesota's bats.
The struggles at the plate didn't do Lewis Thorpe any favors. The left-hander allowed three runs over five innings but none were recorded on a hit.
The rest of the night included four scoreless innings from the bullpen and a leaping catch by Byron Buxton, but Ian Kennedy struck out three to secure the victory for Texas.
The Twins (11-18) will wrap up their four-game series with Texas on Thursday afternoon.
