The Minnesota Twins beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-3 on Tuesday night in the last home night game of the season at Target Field.

The Twins got out to a quick start and never slowed down. A run-scoring single from Eduardo Escobar and a two-run single from Chris Parmelee gave the Twins that three-run lead.

It was more than enough run support for Twins starter Kyle Gibson (13-11). He retired the first eight batters he faced, then kept the Diamondbacks to one run on seven hits, while striking out a career best eight to earn the win. Gibson also went seven innings without walking a single batter.

Casey Fien, Brian Duensing and Jared Burton combined to throw the final two innings to secure the Twins win.

Trevor Plouffe had a big night for Minnesota; he was 4-for-4 with a run scored. Eduardo Nunez and Aaron Hicks each had a pair of hits and both scored a run. The bottom of the Twins lineup – Nunez, Hicks and Escobar – combined for five hits, three runs scored and two RBIs.

A night after losing their 90th game for the fourth consecutive season, the Twins picked up their 67th victory, their most in four seasons.

Joe Mauer left the game after he was hit by a pitch from Arizona starter Andrew Chafin. He is listed as day-to-day with an elbow contusion.

The Twins play their last game at Target Field this season on Wednesday. Phil Hughes takes the mound for Minnesota and he will face Vidal Nuno. The first pitch is at 12:10 p.m.
