The Minnesota Twins emerged victorious from a pitchers duel at Target Field Friday night, beating the White Sox 1-0.

Twins starter Kyle Gibson (2-2) out-dueled Chicago pitcher Jose Quintana. Gibson went eight innings and held the White Sox to just four hits and two walks, while striking out four.

The Twins scored their only run of the game on a wild pitch that brought Kennys Vargas home from third base in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Vargas led the Twins, going 2-for-3 with the run scored. Torii Hunter was also 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Gibson kept retiring White Sox. He cruised through the first eight innings.

Glen Perkins pitched out of some trouble in the ninth to pick up his seventh save of the season – striking out Tyler Flowers on three pitches to end the game.

Ricky Nolasco will make his return from the disabled list on Saturday against Chicago's Hector Noesi.
