The Minnesota Twins picked up their third straight victory on Friday as they beat the Detroit Tigers 2-0.

The win moves the Twins within one game of .500 and within three games of the division-leading Tigers.

Kyle Gibson was brilliant for the Twins, he pitched seven shutout innings to extend his scoreless innings streak to 15.

Minnesota took the 1-0 lead on a solo home run from Eduardo Escobar in the third inning. It was his second home run of the season.

Gibson then maintained the lead, as he scattered five hits, struck out three and walked two.

Just as big as the home run in the third inning, Escobar came back to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs against Joe Nathan.

Escobar worked a walk out of the at bat, to force home an insurance run.

Glenn Perkins came on in the ninth and picked up his 17th save. It was his first save in more than a week.
