Girls state basketball tournament: Scores from today's games

The championship games are set in Class 4A and 3A, while the Class 1A quarterfinals are complete in the State High School Girls' Basketball Tournament.

Class 4A – semifinals

Hopkins 85, Eastview 67

After a half of going toe-to-toe, Hopkins pulled away in the second half to pull away in the second half and beat Eastview 85-67.

The top-seeded Royals were led by Nia Hollie, who scored 28 points, while Ashley Bates added 23 to lead Hopkins to a berth in the Class 4A championship game Saturday.

Rachel Ranke led Eastview with 24 in the loss.

Hopkins will meet up with Minnetonka Saturday at Williams Arena.

Minnetonka 75, White Bear Lake 50

Three Skippers were in double figures as Minnetonka beat White Bear Lake 75-50 to secure a spot in the Class 4A Championship.

Grace Allen scored 15 points, while Chrissy Carr and Lizzie Odegard each added 14 to lead Minnetonka.

White Bear Lake shot just 38 percent from the floor and were just 2-of-18 from the three-point line.

Minnetonka moves to the 4A title game where they will meet Hopkins on Saturday.

Class 3A – semifinals

Thief River Falls 42, Academy of Holy Angels 55

Holy Angels will advance to the 3A finals after a pitched battle with Thief River Falls, who got off to a strong start but couldn't hold off the offensive punch of the Holy Angels Stars.

Sophomore forward Megan Meyer led the Stars with 21 points, while Megan Thompson added 14. Holy Angels shot the lights out after they shook off their opening jitters, going 5 of 9 from behind the arc in the first half.

Kylea Praska scored 14 points for the the Thief River Falls Prowlers. Jenna Tadych and Tiahna Nicholson complimented that total with 10 points each.

Winona 37, Becker 33

Two-seeded Winona fought tooth-and-nail to wrestle away a close game from the Becker Bulldogs to advance and take on the Academy of Holy Angels in the 3A Finals.

Neither team managed to create much separation during the first half, with Winona taking a 5 point lead - the largest lead of the early minutes - with them to locker rooms after a brief scoring run before the half.

The game stayed tense during the final minutes as Winhawks starter Danneka Voegeli hit the gutsy go-ahead bucket, giving Winona a one point advantage. Justine Schultz followed up her teammate's big shot by draining two clutch free-throws to seal the deal.

Winona will face the Academy of Holy Angels Saturday night at the Target Center, tip off is at 6pm.
