Brian Dozier won the "Media Good Guy" award over Glen Perkins last year, but Perkins may get the last laugh if he wins the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award.

Perkins was a great sport last year when his friend and teammate, Dozier, won the local-only media award. But on Tuesday, Major League Baseball announced Perkins as one of 30 club nominees for the Roberto Clemente Award.

Last year's winner was St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Carlos Beltran, who was recognized for demonstrating "the values Clemente displayed in his commitment to community and understanding the value of helping others."

The last time a Twins player won the award was in 1996 when, who else, Kirby Puckett was honored. The only other Twins to win the award were Dave Winfield (1994) and Rod Carew (1977).
