Edina High School upset top-ranked Hill-Murray in the Class AA high school hockey championship game Saturday night, 4-2, the Star Tribune reports.

The victory capped off an exciting day of hockey at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

St. Thomas Academy earlier won its third straight Class A state championship with a victory over Hermantown, 5-4, according to the Star Tribune.

In the AA title game, Edina fell behind 1-0 to Hill-Murray before storming back with four unanswered goals and the eventual win.

The victory gave Edina its eighth state title. The team previously won three additional championships as Edina East.

In the Class A championship game, St. Thomas Academy sophomore Teddy Novak scored a goal with 6.1 seconds remaining in the third period to break a 4-4 tie with Hermantown.

With the win, the Cadets became the first team since Bloomington Jefferson's 1992, 1993 and 1994 squads to win three straight championships.

The game was tied at 1-1 in the first period, before Hermantown pulled ahead with a 3-1 lead in the second. The Hawks led 4-2 at one point in the third period, before the Cadets came back with the eventual tying and winning goals.

If St. Thomas Academy goes for another championship next year, it will be in a different class. The team is opting-up to Class AA next season.
