Goin' out? Good spots to watch the Super Bowl

While many football fans will catch the big game at a house party or from the comfort of their own couch, those looking to go out for the Super Bowl have a few good options to choose from.

WCCO has what it thinks are the best bars in Minnesota to watch the big game, with Grumpy's Bar and Grill in Roseville topping the list. The five metro-area bars and one in Mankato that made the cut offer food and drink specials during the Super Bowl, which can be viewed on a number of giant TV screens.

If you're looking for something closer to the city, Eater – a blog for foodies – picked the 12 best bars for watching football in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Included in that list is Mac's Industrial Sports Bar in northeast Minneapolis, which was also rated the best sports bar in the city by the check-in app Foursquare.

Tickets are available for a Super Bowl party at the pizza joint Pig Ate My Pizza in Robbinsdale. Although a bit spendy, a $100 ticket buys you wings, ribs, monte cristos, oysters, soup shooters, make-your-own pizzas, unlimited beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. The restaurant says on its Facebook page that more surprises are also in store.

For $15-20, football fans can watch the game on the big screen at New Hope Cinema Grill, treat themselves to an all-you-can-eat-buffet and also receive drink tickets, a shot at halftime, a raffle ticket and a goodie bag.

However, if the drinks are flowing, make sure to arrange a sober driver. The Minnesota State Patrol is stepping up DWI enforcement on Sunday. The state is going for its sixth straight year with no drunk driving deaths.
