Gopher baseball team tops Illini, earns ticket to Big Ten tourney
The Gophers baseball team defeated Illinois Saturday at Siebert Field, 2-0. The Star Tribune reports the victory keeps Minnesota alive in post-season play. The Gophers earned the fourth seed in this week’s Big Ten tournament at Target Field.
The tournament opener on Wednesday pits the Gophers against Illinois in a rematch.
Minnesota (30-20, 13-8 Big Ten) will make its 28th conference tournament appearance, the most in Big Ten history.
Indiana is the No. 1 seed and Ohio State earned the No. 2 seed.
