The Gophers split their weekend series with Penn State, winning Friday night 2-1, but losing on Saturday 4-3 in overtime, according to

The loss snapped Minnesota's winning streak at seven, and it was the first time Penn State has ever defeated the Gophers, the Star Tribune reports.

The Gophers fell behind for the second straight game, but Sam Warning tied it for Minnesota with 39.6 seconds remaining in regulation to force the extra period.

But the Nittany Lions' Luke Juha scored on a power play with 2:47 left in overtime to get the 4-3 win. They got the man advantage after the Gophers' Mike Brodzinski was called for icing, a call that Gopher backers disagreed with.

Adam Wilcox made 31 saves for Minnesota, giving up more than two goals for the first time in six games.

The Gophers have six regular season games left. They play two at home against Michigan State on Thursday and Friday.
